OBOU GBAIS
Obou Gbais, born in 1992 in Guiglo, in the west of Ivory Coast, is a young Ivorian artist. After his artistic diploma in 2014 he enrolled at the National School of Fine Arts in Cocody, Abidjan.
In his work he thematizes the African slums that resulted from the political-military crisis in 2002. Crowds of people in his paintings is a way for Obou Gbais to pay homage to all his people, who were victims and who still live in poverty today. Another theme he discusses in his work are women and their realities of life. His mother and his sister are an inspiration who believed in him since he started with art.
